A house is not a small hospital. It is warmer, dimmer, and far more personal — but the method that makes a ward work at 3am is the same method that makes a kitchen work at breakfast and a living room work at ten in the evening.
Layers, not fittings
A room is specified as ambient, task, accent and atmosphere, each on its own circuit. Most homes are given one layer and a dimmer, which is why they only ever look right at one time of day.
Glare is a fault
In a hospital corridor a visible source is a hazard. In a bedroom it is the reason a room never feels restful. The same shielding and aiming discipline applies at both scales.
One temperature, held
Mixed colour temperatures are the most common fault in a finished home. We specify a house the way we specify a building — a schedule that holds from the entrance to the last bedroom.
