A new hospital building where clinical accuracy and patient calm are specified in the same schedule.
Healthcare lighting is the hardest discipline to fake. Clinical areas have non-negotiable requirements: illuminance levels, colour rendering high enough to assess skin tone accurately, and uniformity that does not leave a clinician working in their own shadow.
The rest of a hospital is a public building where people are frightened, tired, and often lying down looking at a ceiling. Those two requirements pull in opposite directions, and resolving them room by room is most of the job.
Waiting areas and circulation were pulled warmer and lower than code minimums allow in clinical zones, with the transition handled at thresholds so the change registers as arriving somewhere calmer rather than as the lights going dim.
